My contact at CBS Moneywatch (website) has asked me for help.  Here’s from her email:

I am working on another story on career security in a tough economy. One tip, aimed at career changers, mentions that it is often easier to work toward a new educational credential while still employed than if one gets laid off, because it may be hard to afford a new degree if you are unemployed.

If you have gotten new education credentials – for a new career, while you were employed in the career you planned on leaving – and have done this in last 6 to 7 years (especially if you’re now employed in that new career) , please contact me immediately and I’ll help set the interview up.  Alternatively, you can post a response and notice will come through to my email.
